Lucky Last Excursions!

Mar 25, 2020 | class story

Miss Alana’s Bananas and Team Ehlers recently spent Thursdays of Week 6 and Week 7 catching the train to make their way into the city.

Thursday Week 6 was a super exciting outing of 2 train rides, 2 tram rides, picnic recess along the Torrens with the main achievement of the day being able to attend the free SAPOL Road Safety Centre at Thebarton.

The Centre hosted us for sessions of online learning about road safety before letting us out onto their mock road way. Volunteer parents then became volunteer pedestrians and observers for “road users” maneuvering their bikes and trikes through traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, t-junctions and roundabouts.

Thursday Week 7 was just as exciting with 2 train rides, picnic and nature play at the free Botanic Gardens with our classes visiting Tandanya Cultural Institute to tour through the free “Yabarra – Dreaming in Light Exhibition” which was a Fringe event.

How lucky are we?

We had enough parent volunteers to make the excursions possible and everyone stayed safe and really enjoyed the time.

SAPOL have invited us back because we had so many parent volunteers that we could have higher than normal student numbers on the mock roads.

Adelaide Metro provided all of our travels for FREE! They really like to have school groups engaging with their services. Adelaide Metro ensured that at the tram times we needed, there were extra trams running, so that there was room for us and the general public.

From Botanic Gardens to Thebarton we did Tram Karaoke and sang, “Brave” by Sara Bareilles loudly and proudly to a lot of smiles from commuters lucky enough to be on board with PNPS.

Thank you to:

The families for supporting us by beginning and ending the day at the Noarlunga train station.
