Some very special visitors turned up at Port Noarlunga Primary today, with footy’s top prizes making a stop ahead of Gather Round 2026.

The AFL and AFLW premiership cups, freshly minted in Melbourne, joined the SANFL and SANFLW cups as part of a statewide tour. All four are the official trophies that will be presented at the end of their respective seasons, giving students a rare chance to see them up close.
Local SANFL players led the visit, sharing stories from the game and bringing plenty of energy to the school assembly.
The cups drew a crowd, with students lining up for class photos and a closer look at the silverware. It is a moment many won’t forget anytime soon, and a few teachers were just as quick to jump in.

The visit also gave students a glimpse into the history behind the cups, how they are made, and what they represent at the highest level of the game. For some, it may have been the spark that starts their own footy journey.
With Gather Round just days away, the excitement is building across the state and visits like this are helping bring the game to the next generation.
