Resources

Building Independence in Our Children
In our first workshop, we focused on the importance of fostering independence in children to build confidence, self-esteem, perseverance, and trust in their abilities. We highlighted the need for creating time and opportunities for children to practice these skills at their own pace. Practical strategies like using visuals, timers, clear boundaries, and routines were discussed to set them up for success. By encouraging children to take on responsibilities and solve problems, we empower them to feel capable and proud. Real-life examples and group discussions enriched the session. We invite you to join us for future workshops to explore this topic further!

Building Resilience in Our Children
In our second workshop, we explored resilience as a vital life skill for children. We discussed how resilience helps them navigate challenges, manage emotions, and bounce back from adversity with strength and confidence. Using the emotional continuum, we examined the full range of emotions and their role in developing resilience. We also highlighted the impact of mindset through concepts like perspective, spoon theory, and the learning space. Practical strategies such as acknowledging emotions, practicing gratitude, using the 10/10/10 rule, and engaging in stretch activities were shared. The session offered valuable insights and tools to help children build confidence and emotional strength.

Supporting Problem-Solving in Our Children
In our final workshop, we focused on developing children’s problem-solving skills. We discussed various types of problems and how to identify those requiring action. The session outlined six steps to effective problem-solving, offering practical guidance for working through each step with children. We emphasised the importance of modeling problem-solving in daily life through open communication, coaching, and thinking out loud. The workshop also distinguished between conflict and bullying, providing strategies for navigating these situations. We explored how inclusion and maintaining personal power can help children manage interpersonal challenges. Participants gained valuable strategies to help children approach problems with confidence and resilience, equipping them with lifelong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
