Attendance

Students are under compulsion to attend school from the age of 6 years. Academic progress, learning organisational skills and routines, developing friendships and feeling safe and secure at school are all impacted by regular absence or lateness.

Students are expected to arrive at school between 8.30-8.50am and attend everyday unless they are ill, have headlice, an injury that prevents them from moving around the school, a family emergency or an extended family holiday. An exemption is required from the Principal before taking leave for an extended family holiday.

Parents are required to give the school a reason for any absence. This can be done by calling the front office on 83822455 or writing a note in the student’s diary.

Unexplained absences will be followed up via a note in the student’s diary or a phonecall. DECS deems any student who misses over 10 days a year from school as being at risk in their learning. Please speak to the School Counsellor (Mr Garry Wood) if you have any concerns about your child’s attendance.
